Sweat Signals: What Your Skin Knows Before You Do

Modern microfluidic biosensors allow the analysis of the body’s chemical signals through the skin—without needles or lab tests. These wearable devices use tiny channels and specialized sensors to detect biomarkers in sweat or other skin fluids. They can track values like glucose, electrolytes, or stress hormones in real time and display the results via a connected app. Applications include diabetes management, athletic performance monitoring, and smart wound care. Despite their potential, challenges remain in calibration, power supply, and data privacy.
